MADISON, Wis. — Popular restaurant Marie’s Soul Food on Monroe Street is set to open back up on Wednesday.
The restaurant had been closed due to the owners being stuck in another country.
Marissa Holmes was expected to leave Saint Thomas on Saturday, January 3rd, but her flight home to Madison couldn’t depart after President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes on Venezuela amid rising tensions between Trump and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Marie’s Soul Food opened roughly six years ago and has built a reputation for its home-style cooking and welcoming atmosphere.
“We treat you like family as a home cooked meal. Away from home, we do everything with love. And the way that we would want things to be when we go out to eat,” Holmes told News 3 Now last week.
