Liat Beinin, an Israeli-American dual citizen abducted by Hamas on October 7, is in the hands of Red Cross officials, a source familiar tells CNN. It’s the second successful release of an American hostage since the start of a truce between Israel and Hamas.
Beinin and her husband, Aviv Atzili, have been missing since their kibbutz was attacked by Hamas on October 7, according to Beinin’s father, Yehuda Beinin.
The White House said three Americans – 4-year-old Abigail Edan and two women, whom they had not previously named — were expected to be among the initial 50 women and children Hamas had agreed to release as part of a deal announced between Israel and Hamas last week.
Abigail was released on Sunday. Following the confirmed release of Liat Beinin, the status of the second American woman remains unclear.
Yehuda Beinin has said that his daughter is a high school civics and history teacher and a tour guide at the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem.
