The smartphone shipments globally will see a decline of 3.5% to 1.31 billion units in 2022, as per research firm International Data Corp (IDC). The company has significantly reduced its forecast for the year 2022 from the previous projection of 1.6% growth after three consecutive quarters of decline and increasing challenges in both supply and demand. However, it’s not all gloomy forecast. IDC expects this to be a short term set back and sees the current challenges to ease by the end of the year and the market to recover in 2023 with 5% growth.
