Solar Eclipse March 2025 Date and Time in India: Get ready to witness the first solar eclipse of 2025 on March 29. This partial solar eclipse will be the first of two solar eclipses occurring in 2025. However, just like the upcoming total lunar eclipse, also known as the Blood Moon, the partial solar eclipse will only be visible in select parts of the world.
The solar eclipse will be visible from Asia, Africa, Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic Ocean, North America, and South America. However, viewers in North America will get the best possible viewing experience, as it will occur right around sunrise. Unfortunately, the solar eclipse will not be visible from any part of India.
Why is it called a partial solar eclipse?
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Sun and the Earth. When the Moon completely covers the Sun, it is called a total solar eclipse. However, in this case, the Moon will only cover a portion of the Sun, hence the name “partial solar eclipse.” Interestingly, a solar eclipse is always followed by a lunar eclipse about two weeks later, or vice versa.
According to Indian Standard Time (IST), the solar eclipse will begin on March 29 at 2:20:43 PM, with the maximum eclipse occurring at 4:17:27 PM. The eclipse will end at 4:13:45 PM, lasting for approximately four hours in total.
Unlike a lunar eclipse, which is safe to observe with the naked eye, it is not advisable to look directly at a solar eclipse, as it can cause retinal burns and lead to permanent eye damage. Always use proper eye protection when viewing a solar eclipse.
